Lyric Lines to Remember
Great lyrics are words which have a special force long before they see a musical note.
It occured to me a few weeks ago that there are occasional lines in songs that just stick in my soul. So I am going to start listing my favorite lyric lines; send me some of your favorites.
But first, here are some of my favorite songs that I have produced in the past four years. I'll have holiday selections for you later.
Time is a Lonesome TravelerKen Sorenson breathes life into a lyric that reflects on both life and fulfillment. His use of both harmonica and guitar brings a powerful simplicity to a clean, simple lyric.
- Life's True
Alia Bree took a pretty difficult lyric and melody and made it feel like she both knew it and had lived it. I really liked this version of the title song.
- Lock the Gate
Steven White wrote the music to many of the tracks on this album, "Life's True". Here he sings one of his melody's to my lyrics. When you find love, don't let it go.
- Roll Up the Lights
Natalie Espinoza has a very special tone of voice which I thought suited the fun of this song perfectly. Time to party and then greet the dawn. Her sister, Amber O'Reilly wrote the melody to my lyrics.
- Boxcar Is My Bedroom
Combine a lonely guy with a limited life in a railroad town. Boxed in, left out, and lonely. Steven White wrote the melody and speaks the introduction; Steve Davis sings the melody to my lyric.
- Life is Just a Week of Thursdays
Ken Sorenson composed the melody and accompanied himself with guitar and harmonica on this vocal. His voice really enhanced my lyric about the story of a lothario turned husband. Deacon Jones did the wonderful work on organ.
